The Spanish company from Murcia arrives in China with Robot Union, the pan-European business accelerator in which 10 technological startups receive up to 223,000 euros of subsidy and compete for one million euros of private investment

After participating in several national and European fairs, taking their remote-controlled underwater vehicles (ROVs) and visiting Oceanology Americas in San Diego (United States), Nido Robotics makes the leap to Asia and participates in the most important technology event on the continent: the Mobile World Congress.

The Pitch

The company’s main activity is the development and manufacture of small, easy to handle, low-cost underwater drones.

As a benchmark in the sector and about to launch its first international subsidiary in Chile, Nido Robotics visits Shanghai thanks to its participation in Robot Union, the first European company accelerator focused 100% on the robotics sector and in which a total of 20 European companies (only two are Spanish) participate with the aim of obtaining the largest possible funding, opting for up to one million euros.

Drone in action

The Nido delegation at the MWC shows its ROVs at the Spain stand, sharing space with the rest of companies that have travelled to Shanghai invited by Mobile World Capital, an initiative that promotes the digital development of society and helps to improve people’s lives at a global level and that for the last five years has been promoting this action together with the Ministry of Economy and Business (through, the Generalitat de Catalunya (with ACCIÓ) and Barcelona City Council (with Barcelona Activa).

In addition, the team has had the opportunity to present its flagship products, Sibiu Pro and Sibiu Nano, during the event ‘Four Years From Now’ #4YFN which takes place in parallel to the congress and is presented as “the only showcase for startups of the largest mobile event in the world, whose objective is to support these emerging projects, investors and companies to create, discover and launch new business together”.

During his speech, Luis Fernandez, In-house Counsel of Nido Robotics, presented the advantages and opportunities offered by the use of underwater vehicles that have developed and are already used around the world: they make easier and safer to explore the seas and oceans, enable the collection of scientific data, record video and photos, are customizable (according to customer needs) and reach places that humans can not access, in addition to its price part of 3,000 euros, among other examples.

The Nido Robotics team will take advantage of their presence in China to visit potential clients and collaborators with whom they can establish relationships that will allow them to continue growing.
